New function in tourinfra: February 2023

We are back at the ITB and have new functions in tourinfra in our luggage.

February was used to realize some news for the international tourism fair taking place in Berlin at the beginning of March. The innovations are spread over various areas:

tourinfra:
Many technical systems were brought up to date in January. On this technical basis, individual further developments could now be realized. In conjunction with our new routing system, existing routes can be elegantly optimized on the OSM database. The snapping tool pulls the often somewhat “shaky” routes perfectly onto the basic geometry of the paths.

Winter Manager:
The Winter Manager received some improvements in data maintenance in February. Filtering has been added to the output module. The map display of the ski resorts has been improved.

Trail manager & trail reports:
Minor improvements have been made to the trail manager in the area of trail display. The map view can be controlled via a new menu. The route display improves the visibility of parallel trails.
The trail reports module has also been enhanced. The display of groomed areas is directly visible in the lists. The proportion of grooming on and next to the trail can also be calculated. The evaluation enables a convenient display of the working hours per season per snow groomer.

New routing technology & routing modules
Together with our customer Emsland, we implemented new functions in the routing modules. The new routing system is based entirely on OSM data, supplemented by the option of individual routing networks. The technology can be used throughout Europe. This technical basis enables us to provide guests with turn-by-turn information. In Emsland, the offer is supplemented by the connection with the bike nodes. The extension makes the results of tour planning available to guests as easy-to-use orientation based on the junctions. The technology can also be used to display the tour details.

POI-Hub

Tour PDF
Thanks to an update to a new version of our printing technology, we can integrate map data more directly into the printing system. The result is more options for map design and a much sharper print result. The new tours and routing PDFs were rolled out to customers over the course of February. The examples are from our customer Emsland.

A great deal of work has also been done on further development. The new version supports users in recording new infrastructure. An assistant guides the user through the process of recording outdoor infrastructure.

Vector cards
“Good things take time”. Because we value good maps and do not offer an off-the-shelf product, our colleagues are working intensively on the realization of vector maps for a wide range of applications. The foundations have already been laid, the finishing touches will be completed in the coming weeks and the maps will be rolled out.

POI hub:
With this further development, we can integrate POI data from a wide variety of sources into the tourinfra system in a standardized way. Matching can be controlled uniformly for all data suppliers. In future, the display will be based on the more than 1000 icons created.
