With the aim of establishing a cycling network for the district of Straubing-Bogen, a route network with a total length of 1325 kilometers was developed between 2019 and 2021 on behalf of the Straubing-Bogen district administration. This project not only served to promote tourism, but also to increase the recreational value for the local population.

In an intensive coordination phase, the basics of the cycle network were developed in collaboration with the municipalities, specialist authorities and on-site workshops. The company green-solutions then carried out a detailed on-site inspection, identified weak points and revised these before the network was finalized as part of a fine-tuning process.

A central component of the project was the implementation of uniform signage in accordance with FGSV specifications. In addition, QR codes were installed at points of interest along the cycle routes to provide cyclists with further information about the region. Circular tours were developed, which offer locals and visitors attractive and signposted tour suggestions.

Once the signposts had been installed by the municipalities’ building yards, green-solutions carried out an acceptance test to check the quality of the correct installation of the signposts. In addition, a quality management system was set up to ensure the sustainability and functionality of the cycle network in the long term.
