tourinfra: central data hub in the Rhine Main Regional Park
The regional park is becoming a pioneer for leisure-oriented tour planning in the region on the basis of tourinfra:
The idea of the regional park has become a reality in recent years: Numerous new regional park routes and attractions have been created throughout the region. Around the metropolis of Frankfurt – from Rüdesheim in the Rheingau to the Wetterau in the north, from the Hessian Ried in the south to far into the Kinzig valley – visitors and residents of the region can discover a wide range of leisure and recreational activities. In order to bring this goal closer to the residents and guests of the region using state-of-the-art technology, last year, under the project management of our partner Christoph Steinacker, we began to enter all the geodata of the regional park into tourinfra. This data pool will form the basis for all future activities of the regional park, such as signposting cycle paths, map creation and outdoor routing.
At the workshop meeting last week, the first implementations were presented and further plans were outlined. The fully automatically generated web cartography based on BKG and OSM data, as well as the outdoor routing based on regional park trails, received particular praise. Following the presentation, the next developments were discussed. We look forward to implementing the next modules with webdirekt and the regional park in the coming months.
